Ingredient Notes

Labeled ingredients including: orange, lemon, sugar

One of the many great things about this recipe is that it only has three simple ingredients!

Orange Juice: I 100% recommend using freshly squeezed orange juice for these popsicles.

Not only will this give you incredible freshness, but it will truly give you the mouth-watering flavor we're looking for.

I recommend using Valencia or Sweet oranges. Navel oranges can sometimes be slightly too tart if not juiced at peak freshness.

Lemon Juice: The lemon juice add a bit of a tangy hint to these orange juice popsicles. You can feel free to omit this ingredient if you don't want or like the tart flavor.

If you do add the lemon juice, be sure to use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the freshest and best possible flavor.

Sugar: I prefer to use organic cane sugar, but you can use your favorite or what you have on hand.

See recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.

Step-By-Step Process

4 pictures with labeled steps of how to make orange popsicles including: gather ingredients, juice oranges, mix ingredients, pour into mold

These orange ice pops are so easy to make!

Start by gathering your ingredients and juicing your oranges and lemons. Check out this article about Tips for Juicing Oranges.

Next, you'll mix all of the ingredients together in a measuring cup or other container/bowl.

Once well mixed, pour the mixture into a popsicle mold. If you're in the market for a new popsicle mold, I recommend this silicone popsicle mold or this hard plastic popsicle mold.

Insert the popsicle sticks, place the mold into the freezer, and allow several hours for the popsicles to freeze. On average I find that it takes about 4 hours.

Top Tip: If you're using a hard plastic popsicle mold and having difficulty removing the popsicle from it, run a little warm water on the outside of the mold for a few seconds and try again.

Substitutions & Additions

Using Store-Bought Juice: If you're running short on time or fresh oranges, you can opt to use a store-bough juice rather than freshly squeezing the oranges yourself.

Though I do recommend using freshly squeezed orange juice in this recipe, this can save you time and energy.

Add Fruit Purée: You can add great flavor to these ice pops by adding supplemental fruit purée. I would recommend mango or papaya, yum!

Omit the Sugar: If you're looking to simplify this recipe or hoping to avoid added sugars, simply omit the extra sugar in these pops. I would recommend considering ommiting the lemon juice if you're omitting the sugar.

Omit the Lemon Juice: Not a fan of the extra tart/tang flavor? Not a problem! Simply omit the lemon juice altogether.

Storage

If you aren't planning on enjoying these yummy homemade popsicles right away, let's make sure to store them properly.

You can either store them right in their popsicle mold and cover the top (if your molds don't have a top they come with), or simply wrap them in saran wrap.

This will help keep them moist and ready to be enjoyed.
