Ingredient Notes

Rainbow fruit kebabs on a plate

I chose a variety of common fruits in a rainbow color variation to give them a great pop of color and flavor variety.

Below are several fruits to choose from categorized by color:

Red/Pink: Strawberries, raspberries, apples, dragon fruit, watermelon

Orange: Oranges, clementines, cantaloupe, mango, papaya, peaches

Yellow: Bananas, pineapple, starfruit

Green: Green grapes, kiwi, green apples, pears, honeydew melon

Blue/Purple: Blueberries, blackberries, grapes, figs, plums

It's completely up to you which fruits you choose to put on your rainbow fruit skewer kebabs.

How to make rainbow fruit skewers

How to make rainbow fruit skewers: Strawberry, melon, pineapple, green grapes, blueberries, and blackberries on a cutting board waiting to be assembled on wooden sticks

These would be delicious served with my Vegan Fruit Dip Recipe.

Start out by making your selection of fruit that you'll use. If you're unsure about what fruit is in season, check out this guide about seasonal produce.

Next, you will wash everything well! I usually like to soak my fruit in a combination of 4 cups water to 2 teaspoon of baking soda. Let them soak for 10-15 minutes, then drain, rinse well, and allow to air dry.

Then sliced your fruit to little bite-sized pieces to make your fruit kebabs.

If you're making mini fruit skewers, cut the fruit a little smaller.

Then carefully pierce each fruit in whatever pattern you choose.

The best appetizer for events and holidays

You can choose fruits and colors to coincide with different seasons, holidays, or events!

Below are some fun suggestions:

Baby Shower or Gender Reveal: Pink/red and blue, maybe even green colored fruits (boy baby shower).

Pink/Red: strawberries, raspberries, dragon fruit, watermelon

Blue/Green: blueberries, kiwi, green grapes

Halloween: It would be fun to use orange and black, so a possible combination of oranges or clementines, cantaloupe, blackberries.

4th of July: Aim for fruits that are red, white, and blue.

Suggestions: strawberries, watermelon, raspberries, dragon fruit, bananas, blueberries

Christmas: Pick a variety of red and green colored fruits.

Suggestions: strawberries, raspberries, apple slices, kiwi, green grapes
