Ingredient Notes

Labeled ingredients including: olive oil, green beans, garlic powder, salt & pepper

Green Beans: I prefer to use fresh green beans in the air fryer because of how nicely they crisp up. I honestly haven't tested this recipe using frozen green beans but hope to add that to this post in the future.

This article discusses some of the great health benefits of green beans.

Spices and Seasoning: I used a combination of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. It keeps things nice and simple but also full of flavor.

Olive Oil: I used extra virgin olive oil to help the green beans crisp up in the air fryer.

See recipe card below for quantities.

If you're looking for the how to air fry green beans, look no further! Let's walk through how to make this easy plant based recipe.

Start out by gathering your ingredients and washing the green beans.

Next, turn on the air fryer to 375 degrees and let it preheat during the rest of your prep.

This is the air fryer that I use and love.

Snap or cut the ends off of the beans, then toss them in the olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Place the fresh green beans in air fryer and cook at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes depending on your preferences.

Pause the air fryer half way through cooking to remove the air fryer basket and give the beans a little toss. This is done so that they can be evenly cooked.

After cooking, remove from the air fryer and allow the green beans to cool slightly before serving.

Substitutions and Additions

Make them spicy: If you're looking to make spicy green beans, add ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper or chili powder when combining your spices and seasonings.

More or less salty: This one is a super easy adjustment too, just add more or less salt to your preferences.

Use fresh garlic: If you opt for fresh garlic rather than powdered, that's a great way to add flavor. Add minced garlic to the air fryer half way through cooking and toss with the beans.

If you add it in the beginning, it might burn so be careful.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long to air fry green beans? I prefer to fry them for 8-10 minutes so they are still nice and tender but still have some good body to them and aren't overly crisp.

You can adjust the timing and heat to find your personal preference "sweet spot" but this is the timing and temperature that I prefer.

How do I store them? After cooking, transfer the air fried green beans to a storage container and allow them to cool completely to room temperature. Then cover them and you can store them in the fridge for up to five days.

How many beans can I cook at once? One of the first questions that come to mind when you're looking into how to cook green beans in air fryer, is how many can you cook at once?

The key to using an air fryer is to not add too much food at one time. If you have too much (usually more than a single layer), the beans won't cook as thoroughly and will take longer.

I found that using about ½ pound at a time in a classic air fryer is the perfect amount to get a nice crisp green bean.

Notes

Nutrition information is approximate.
You can adjust the cook time to ensure your green beans are cooked to your preferences. If you like them a little less cooked/crispy, only cook for about 8 minutes. If you prefer them to be a little crispier, cook for closer to 10 minutes.
Exact time and level of crispiness will depend on your air fryer.
