Reasons You'll Love This Recipe

  • Meal Prep Friendly: These banana strawberry overnight oats are perfect for meal prepping! They take just a few minutes to prep and last up to five days in the refrigerator.
  • Vegan: We don't use any dairy, eggs, or meat in this recipe making it a dairy-free overnight oat recipe.
  • Gluten-Free: This recipe doesn't have any wheat in it, making it gluten-free. You can also make sure you use certified gluten-free ingredients if you want to be extra careful.
  • Easy Recipe: This is a beginner level recipe that takes just a few minutes to prepare.

Ingredient Notes

Labeled ingredients in small white bowls including: yogurt, bananas, oats, oat milk, chia seeds, strawberries.

Oats: Rolled oats or old fashioned oats work best in this recipe. I don't recommend using steel cut oats due to their consistency and the varying amount of liquid needed.

Milk: Oat milk works best in this recipe due to it's creaminess.

Yogurt: Any type of vanilla yogurt will work well in this recipe. The yogurt will make the overnight oats extra thick and creamy and the vanilla flavor will add extra flavor and sweetness.

Chia Seeds: Adding chia seeds to your overnight oats adds extra nutrients and texture.

Fruit: We use strawberries and bananas in this recipe. I recommend using fresh, ripe banana and either fresh or frozen strawberries.

See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and quantities.

Substitutions & Additions

Milk: The original recipe calls for oat milk but you can use any type of milk you prefer. Almond milk, coconut milk or regular milk are all good options.

Yogurt: You can omit the yogurt to make strawberry banana overnight oats without yogurt. If you do this, replace it with a 1:1 amount of additional milk.

You can also use a different flavor of yogurt. Strawberry yogurt, banana yogurt, or a berry blend of yogurt would all be delicious options.

Fruit: You can add additional fruit to these overnight oats. Some delicious options would be blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries.

Top Tip: If you plan to add toppings make sure you don't add them until it's time to serve the overnight oats. This will help prevent them from getting soggy.

Step by Step Instructions

A collage of four images labeled step 1-step 4. Step 1: ingredients in small white bowls. Step 2: ingredients combined in a jar and mixed together. Step 3: Overnight oats with the milk absorbed. Step 4: Completed overnight oats in a parfait jar with yogurt and bananas.

Step 1: Gather all of the ingredients for your overnight oats. Make any substitutions or additions at this time.

Step 2: Combine the oat milk, strawberries, and bananas in a blender and blend for 5-10 seconds.

Step 3: Combine all ingredients in a jar or container and mix everything together.

Wait 2-3 minutes then stir everything again. This will help to break up any clumps of oats or chia seeds that might be forming.

Step 4: Cover and store in the refrigerator for at least an hour or ideally store them overnight.

Expert Tips

  • Use rolled oats: Different types of oats will need different amounts of liquid and will yield different textures and consistencies. Using rolled oats or old fashioned oats as the standard for overnight oats will give you the correct consistency.
  • Stir twice: Stirring for a second time will help to break up clumps of chia seeds and oats that might form.
